Funny Money ("the app," "we," "us") finds and highlights the funniest comments on public YouTube videos, lets subscribers compete for a monthly prize, and lets creators register their channel to participate. This page explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices.
Information We Collect
- Account information. When you sign in with Google, we receive your email address, display name, and a unique Google account identifier via Firebase Authentication.
- Subscription and payment information. If you subscribe, Stripe processes your payment details directly — we never see or store your full card number. We store your subscription status and a Stripe-assigned customer reference.
- YouTube channel ownership. If you choose to verify your YouTube channel (to be matched as a prize winner) or register as a creator, we request read-only access to your YouTube account to confirm which channel you own. We store the resulting channel ID, channel name, and subscriber count. We never request or receive your Google password.
- Public YouTube content. For creators registered in the app, we read publicly available data from their channel via the YouTube Data API — video titles, links, view counts, and public comments (including comment text, author display name, author channel ID, and upvote/reply counts) — to determine each month's funniest comment.
How We Use Information
- To operate your account and subscription
- To identify which registered creator's video produced the month's winning comment, and whether that comment's author is a subscriber eligible for the prize pool
- To pay a monthly bonus to the creator whose channel produced the winning comment
- To display a public, read-only "Featured Creators" list
Google User Data & the YouTube API
Funny Money's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We request only the minimum YouTube access needed — read-only channel identification (youtube.readonly) — and never request write access to your account.
Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with the service providers that operate the app on our behalf:
- Google Firebase — authentication
- Stripe — payment processing
- YouTube Data API (Google) — public video/comment data and channel-ownership verification
- Railway — database and server hosting
- Netlify — web hosting
Data Retention & Deletion
We retain account data for as long as your account is active. To request deletion of your account and associated data, contact us at the email below.
Children's Privacy
Funny Money is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above.
